Sorry it’s a bit quiet here. Waiting for the new NH season.
In the meantime I’m keeping up to date on my holiday site, www.gurson.co.uk. The weather is looking good for the visit and I’ll be checking out new (for me) regional racecourses as usual.
In the meantime why not a ridiculously early look at Cheltenham (their website looks a bit weird at the moment!).
Vautour 5/1 and Faugheen 10/1 for the Arkle. The New One and Faugheen 5/1 for the Champion Hurdle.
Annie Power 6/4 for the Mares’ Hurdle is marginally more interesting.
The RSA Chase features More of That, Beat That, Faugheen, Annie Power, Don Poli and Briar Hill. Of all the current ante posts Don Poli at 10/1 is interesting.
The Queen Mother Champion Chase is a (small) bit more sensible at this stage (best prices):
Sprinter Sacre 3/1
Sire de Grugy 7/2
Balder Succes 14/1
Champagne Fever 16/1
The World Hurdle market features More of That, Hurricane Fly, Annie Power and (again) Faugheen at odds in order from 3/1 to 11/1. No need for details because that’s a ludicrous market.
The remaining market worth considering is, of course, The Gold Cup. Now this one is worth looking at because the main protagonists are tried and tested.
Bobs Worth 12/1
Silviniaco Conti 12/1
Champagne Fever 14/1
Boston Bob 16/1
O’Faolains Boy 16/1
Cue Card 16/1
My current three against the field are Silviniaco Conti (if he stays straight – in both senses), Champagne Fever (if the rumours that he is a 3m+ chase machine are true) and O’Faolains Boy (if he’s better than a very good handicapper and graded chaser – i.e. improves this season).
